Welcome to the Tollcross International Swimming Centre Redevelopment.

Glasgow City Council has appointed Barr Construction to carry out the redevelopment work at Tollcross Leisure Centre. Works commenced in May 2011 and will continue until June 2013. The upgraded venue will provide the competition venue for swimming at the the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

This project will deliver an additional six-lane 50 metre swimming pool to serve as a warm-up pool for Glasgow 2014, as well as 1,000 additional permanent spectator seats, a new fitness suites, an extension of existing changing facilities, upgraded café and a general upgrade and refresh of the existing facilities. 

This venue will also house the re-location of facilities lost due to the fire at the former Shettleston Halls and includes a public hall, function rooms, dance studio, dressing room, community hall concourse, toilets and storage.

Work will be carried out in a manner intended to keep the impact on the local community to a minimum. Due to the nature of the works, the centre will be closed for a period of time. Glasgow Life, who manage the centre on behalf of Glasgow City Council, are communicating details of the closure programme to centre users.

Barr Construction are members of the Considerate Constructors Scheme and will engage with the local community throughout the project to ensure the works are progressed with respectful consideration to our neighbours and the wider community.
